Drove "TiVo" to become synonymous with ease-of-use and ease-of-manufacture, by managing all industrial design, mechanical engineering, hardware branding, mechanical sourcing, and tooling.
Designed and produced 10 generations of set-top receivers, remote controls, accessories, and packaging with minimal resources and breakneck schedules.
Developed user-friendly, out-of-box customer experience and authored first branding guide.
Managed designs for 12 third-party hardware manufacturers, including Sony, Pioneer, Toshiba, Thomson, and Philips. Assisted selection of manufacturing sites in the US, Mexico, Europe, and Asia.
Led successive platform cost reductions of more than 40%.

OMNICELL
Senior Director, Advanced R&D 2014 – 2016
Established Omnicell’s first-ever, Advanced Technology Office (ATO) to create skip-level generations of automated instruments and medication packaging aimed at enhancing workflows for pharmacists, nurses, and patients.
· Defined extended roadmap technologies for sensing-enabled counting, mobile communication, inventory tracking, and biometric security for pharmacy automation.
· Completed proof-of-concept prototypes for five major initiatives. Submitted patent applications.
· Developed a simple “Technology Readiness Dashboard” for concise communication of project status among diverse stakeholders.
· Performed technical diligence on Omnicell’s acquisition of two robotics companies in the US and Europe.
Senior Director, Hardware Engineering 2012 – 2014
Led the entire Hardware Engineering staff of 26 MEs, EEs, System Architects, Design consultants, and Test Technicians in the conceptual creation, and executive approval of a next-generation product architecture for greatly improved modularity, capacity, cost and serviceability.
· Managed Sustaining Engineering as well, supporting incremental releases and all Level 4 and 5 field escalations. Established rigorous quality practices in root cause, and hands-on verification.
· Performed diligence for pharmacy automation acquisitions.

Secured consulting contracts and led technical teams of PD, EE, and SW resources for 18 projects including; video phone, audio headset, industrial pressure vessel, video controller, medical atherectomy device, network computer, and others.
Silicon Graphics: (returned) Start-up Program Manager 1997 – 1998
Led peripheral systems design and sourcing for NetBook pen-based, tablet computer.
Created specifications, systems partnerships, and make/buy plan for CDMA wireless components.
Co-created start-up operations plan for spin-out of LiveInk Corp. to continue NetBook business development outside of SGI.
Silicon Graphics: Product Design Engineering manager 1992 – 1994
Managed all design and mechanical engineering for Interactive Systems Division.
Assembled design team and developed Indigo2, world's fastest 3-D workstation, and multiple Silicon Studio video peripherals.
